PUBLIC PROFILE

What we do

As part of realising his vision, Khumalo seeks to reintroduce music education and literacy in schools and communities across South Africa. South Africa’s musical knowledge and appreciation has declined significantly, as funding for social and extra-curricular activities continues to be cut across the board. As a result, we are creating a nation of youth that has not had opportunities to explore their artistic and creative potential, and many find those outlets abusing substances of various kinds. In addition to this, the inability to have artistic and creative outlets also contributes to the growing mental health crisis the country is experiencing, especially amongst the youth.

Through the work of the Vusi Khumalo Foundation, Khumalo hopes to drive change, however small, and inspire the youth and the communities they live in, to take individual and collective action through the arts. It is through creating a new crop of talented and committed artists that we honour those who came before us. It is through the arts that we can change society for the better. It is through the arts that Vusi Khumalo Foundation will enrich the heritage of the arts of South Africa and the world.
