How are we making an impact and what changes are we practically making in society to aliviate this horrible trend and social ill called Gender Based Violance and femicide? Have we taken 16 days of activism against the valnerable and put it in a vase to be displayed as a centrepiece glorifying nonsense in endless events "outings" and campaigns to "bring awareness"? what happens therafter?

Don't get me wrong, I am an advocate and firm believer in speaking out and breaking the silance for a few reasons:

1. Everything is spiritual, EACH AND EVERYTHING is backed by a spirit whether you believe it or not, it will just be a matter of time until you figure it out yourself. Now, one of the ways spirits interact with the physical is through sound. When we break the silance on such injustices these tormenting entities lose power from the exposure (depending on what happens therafter).

2. Breaking the silance will liberate the victim as the bible quote say " you shall know the truth and it shall set you free".

3. It encourages those who have been violated to speak out too and possibly get justice because in most cases, the person carrying the weight of abuse is not able to move past it and their lives become this endless loop around the event. Meanwhile the perpetrator forgets and sometimes continues to flourish. Justice must be served.

4. Speaking out also opens up possibilities of opportunies to get help, one may not have known what kind of help is available an where to turn to.

What I do have a problem with, is not understanding why we seem to glorify and "celebrate" GBV by dressing up, looking forward to attend such events purposelessly. What is your contribution? or are you just going to listen to how horrible a certain gender can be? to validate an idea you have been contemplating all along? are you attending these events so people on instagram and facebook should see your compassion?

Today I challange you to think and be honest with yourself. Don't loose the plot, We are building a nation where each one of us have something to bring. Next time, before you glue on your wig in preperation to attend another purple and black event, ask yourself how your presense will add value.
