About us:

Siyoyisile Indlala Community Farm and Projects is an ecosystem for change, dedicated to transforming our community through agriculture. We use organic farming as a powerful tool to shift mindsets and inspire new ways of thinking. Our program involves both young and old growers, fostering skills, unity, and sustainability. By producing certified organic crops, we promote healthier living and environmental stewardship. Our mission is to empower community members, create economic opportunities, and cultivate a positive mindset towards self-reliance. Siyoyisile Indlala is committed to nurturing growth, resilience, and innovation, building a brighter future for all.

Siyoyisile Indlala Community Farm is a registered nonprofit organization and the only certified organic farm in Soweto, accredited by PGS (Participatory Guarantee System) and SAOSO (South African Organic Sector Organization). We are dedicated to empowering our community through comprehensive agricultural programs targeted at primary and high school youth in Soweto. Our programs serve children from Grade R to Grade 7, as well as youth and elderly women at Faranani Primary School in Protea Glen Ext 11.

We teach a wide range of skills including food preservation, agro-processing, germination, soil preparation, intercropping, composting, food gardening, organic farming, rabbit farming, and food waste management. Operating six days a week—through public holidays and school holidays—we also provide a daily meal to participants. Beyond education, we conduct agricultural awareness campaigns across different communities to promote sustainable practices.

Our farm, spanning 1.5 hectares, sustains us as we sell our produce to street vendors, supermarkets, and walk-in customers. We actively encourage community members to establish their own home food gardens, fostering self-reliance and healthy living. Our holistic approach aims to transform lives, promote sustainability, and build resilient communities through organic farming and education.
