Our journey
Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Zanele Monyai, the proud founder and CEO of Nelle Mavri: The Melanin Standard. My passion lies in empowering black women and children to achieve their hair goals. I embarked on a personal journey driven by my own struggles with excessive shedding and breakage caused by harmful chemicals and high heat.
This frustration ignited a deep commitment to independent research focused on Ethnic African hair. Over a span of five years, from 2015 to 2019, I dedicated myself to uncovering the truth. Through my diligent research efforts, guided by a talented team of researchers, I made a groundbreaking discovery. Many of the chemicals found in hair products commonly used by Black women are not only hormone-disrupting but also contribute to hormonal imbalances among Black women and children.
This revelation became the driving force behind Nelle Mavri, as we strive to provide safe and effective hair solutions that celebrate and nurture the beauty of melanin-rich hair.
