Jonkie’s musical journey began at the tender age of five within his local church's Sunday school. Recognizing his innate talent, the church nurtured his gift as he progressed through local and school choirs, eventually stepping into the vital role of Praise and Worship Leader. Growing up in a musical household, he honed his craft singing at home with his older sister. He later began performing at weddings and community funerals, captivating local audiences and gaining widespread recognition for his powerful vocal ability and spiritual depth.

In 2012, Jonkie reached a major milestone by recording and releasing a collaborative contemporary gospel album with his sister titled Bokang Modimo. The 12-track project is a rich collection of heartfelt praise and worship designed to uplift listeners.

As a seasoned stage performer, Jonkie has shared platforms with some of the most prominent names in South African gospel music. His impressive resume includes sharing the stage with Bukiwe (Joyous Celebration), William Sejake, Lebo Sekgobela, and Mnqobi Nxumalo. Most recently, he had the profound honor of ministering alongside gospel legends Bishop Benjamin Dube and Bucy Radebe.
