Fueling Sharpeville’s favourite bakery
Keep the scones coming, back our business today
This campaign is raising R25 000
Campaign detail
Hello! My name is Logain Mokgele, and I am the proud founder of Baked by Logain, right here in Sharpeville.
Our business was built on a simple, delicious promise: freshly baked scones, every single day, for the people we love. In our kasi, a warm scone isn’t just a treat—it’s comfort, it’s community, and it’s a staple that brings people together. We love what we do, and our community loves what we bake. But right now, we’ve hit a ceiling, and we need your help to rise above it.
The Challenge: The Heat is On (But the Power is Off)
Like many small businesses in South Africa, load shedding has thrown a massive wrench into our daily operations. Because we rely entirely on electricity, our production completely stops when the lights go out. We are constantly playing catch-up, waiting for the power to return just so we can fulfill our daily orders.
On top of that, our current small mixer limits how much dough we can prepare at once. We want to feed more families and grow our business, but our current equipment simply can’t keep up with the Sharpeville appetite!
The Ask: Fueling Our Growth
We are raising R25,000 to completely transform our kitchen and secure our business’s future. Here is exactly where your investment will go:
-
R15,000 for a Commercial Gas Oven: This is our ultimate game-changer. Switching to gas means we can keep baking through any blackout, drastically slash our electricity overhead costs, and ensure our scones are always served fresh and on time.
-
R10,000 for an Industrial Stand Mixer: This will massively increase our capacity, allowing us to mix larger batches of dough and scale up our daily production.
Growing With and Within Our Community
This crowdfunding campaign isn’t just about buying new appliances; it’s about investing in the local township economy.
When you fund Baked by Logain, the ripple effect stays right here in Sharpeville:
-
Local Jobs & Skills: Increasing our production capacity means we will soon need extra hands in the kitchen. Your support directly paves the way for us to employ and upskill local youth.
-
Affordable, Local Food Security: By switching to gas, we lower our production costs. We pass those savings directly onto our neighbours, ensuring our community always has access to affordable, freshly baked goods, no matter what happens to the power grid.
-
Keeping the Kasi Economy Alive: Every cent invested in us helps prove that township businesses can be resilient, sustainable, and successful.
How You Can Help
We cannot deliver this deliciousness alone. We need our broader community to back us. Whether you can contribute R50, R500, or simply share our story with your network, every bit of support helps us light our ovens and keep our dream alive.
Help us keep the aroma of fresh scones wafting through Sharpeville. Back Baked by Logain today!
