Help scale Soweto's finest chilli sauces

Scale production, create kasi jobs.

Hi, I’m Chef Daniel Langa. Originally from Limpopo, I’ve made my home and built my dream right here in Soweto.

I am the creator of Chef Daniel Hot Tasty Chilli Sauces, a brand born from a chef’s passion for pairing perfect flavours with meat, and forged through resilience.

Our Story: A Recipe That Saved Us

I first created these recipes back in 2016 while working in the restaurant industry. But when the 2020 lockdown hit and everything shut down, these sauces became my lifeline. While out of work, I started selling my homemade blends from home. That hustle didn't just survive—it paid the rent and supported my entire family during a global crisis.

Seeing how much people loved the flavour, I knew I had something special. By 2024, I took the leap to officially register the company with CIPC and bring our unique sauces online.

The Craft: Fermented to Perfection

We don't just blend chillies; we craft them. I personally head to the markets to handpick the best varieties—from fiery Habaneros and intense Cayenne peppers to the famous Carolina Reaper.

Right now, our process is entirely artisanal. We ferment the raw chillies in 20-litre buckets with vinegar, custom spices, and healthy dry herbs to create a smooth, deeply flavourful, and fiery finish. But to reach our full potential, we need to move out of the 20-litre buckets and into commercial production.

How Your Support Will Help Us Scale

To get Chef Daniel Hot Tasty Chilli Sauces onto major retail shelves and into the wider South African market, we need to scale up our infrastructure.

Your contributions will fund:

  • Commercial Equipment: Upgrading from 20-liter buckets to professional fermentation barrels and industrial blending equipment.

  • SABS Certification & Compliance: Financing the strict food safety testing and South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) compliance needed for supermarket shelves.

  • Bulk Sourcing & Packaging: Buying our unique pepper varieties directly from farmers in larger quantities to lower production costs and meet retail demand.

Growing Together with the Soweto Community

By scaling Chef Daniel Hot Tasty Chilli Sauces, you are creating a direct pipeline of growth for the community:

  1. Supporting Local Farmers: Scaling up means we will buy our fresh peppers and herbs in bulk, directly supporting local township markets and small-scale farmers.

  2. Local Job Creation: Moving into a bigger production space means we will be hiring local youth to assist with the manufacturing, bottling, and distribution of our sauces.

"During the hardest times of lockdown, this sauce kept my family afloat. Now, I want this business to help feed and employ more families in my community."

Let's bring the true taste of Soweto flavour to the rest of the world. Back Chef Daniel today and help us take our artisanal chilli sauces to the big market!
